After news of a world-shattering meteor arrives in the summer of 2085, young priest Jo Strauss decides to step away from his role at the church and chase a dream he'd long since given up on. He sets out across the midwest to live out his last days on Earth in the shining Kansas City Metropolis, hoping to draft a novel full of romance and hope. Upon his arrival, Jo finds himself climbing aboard the Sky Rail and drifting through the towering skyscrapers and shimmering lights with no real destination in mind.
Musician and dreamer Marc Santiago is looking for some inspiration before the world ends. An unfinished promise to a lost love and a melody on his lips that he can't quite nail down call him out into the Metropolis late one evening. Boarding the Sky Rail on a muggy August evening, he stumbles upon a priest with a glimmer in his eyes in an isolated train car, and his final days of existence are suddenly much brighter.
With the seconds racing by, the musician and the writer make a pact to finish their passion projects with the intention of leaving behind a legacy worth celebrating. At the end of the world, all they have is each other, and the lost souls find themselves inexplicably intertwined as the clock counts down the days to impact. In a city full of art, music, and motion, Marc and Jo set out on a journey of self discovery, creation, and romance as they fight to fill their final moments with meaning.
