Pre-Order The scientist, The spaceman, and the stars between them!
Pre-orders for vol.1 of The night farm - coming may 2024
Hello there! My name is Alycia "Al" Davidson (she/they), writing under the name A.L. Davidson. I am a Pushcart Prize, Indie Ink, Queer Indie Awards, and BBNYA nominated author specializing in massive space operas and tiny disturbances! I write stories about ghosts, grief, isolation, eco-horror, space exploration, queerness, and the human condition. I love telling tales with themes of botanical-based horror, honest and realistic romance, and harrowing, isolated settings. This is my personal site for all of my writing based projects, so you'll find some short stories, links to my available and upcoming work, and all of my socials!
I am best known for my spooky-cozy farming web novel series The Night Farm, my short story series R-PNZL: A Futuristic Fairytale, and my debut eco-horror romance novella When The Rain Begins To Burn. My forthcoming cosmic eco-horror novel, The Scientist, The Spaceman, and The Stars Between Them is being published by Timber Ghost Press, my neo-noir thriller Persephone's Playhouse will be published by Hear Us Scream Press, and my upcoming psychological-paranormal romance novella He Hears Death was recently funded on Kickstarter and is in the process of being finalized for print. I am currently in the process of writing an eight novel space opera series that was started in March of 2020. While I am writing this series I am keeping most of it under wraps, but I am excited to share it with the world upon its completion with a hope of self-publishing it in a few years. In the meantime, I have two ongoing slice-of-sci-fi web novels titled The Wayward Souls of Avalon and Lonely Planet Hotel that are available to read, alongside the slightly popular cozy horror series The Night Farm, that can be found on my Patreon and Tapas. My debut novella, When The Rain Begins To Burn arrived in October 2023 and was nominated for over ten awards in 2023 between the Indie Ink, Queer Indie, and BBNYAs. I also have several short stories and flash fiction pieces that are available in various online publications, lit mags, and anthologies, which you can find on the My Library page. All of my available books, zines, and stickers can be found on my shop! Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my work! -A.L. Davidson |
"Loved this chilling story" - Lotte van der Krol (@lottevdkrol on Twitter), for The Dandy's Deal
"Davidson’s spin on the classic tale is an exquisite sci-fi stew of romance, suspense and mystery, with just a pinch of the familiar to make you realize the story of Rapunzel should always have been a heist in the first place." - Matt Ligeti (Comic Book Yeti), for R-PNZL
"I'm loving the desperation and hopefulness there at the end. Very excited to read more here soon!!" - Brian Rodman (Brian Rodman Comics), for The Wayward Souls of Avalon
"We read the first chapter! Wow what a vibe, kind of want to abandon everything and move to a dreamy farm with fluffy haired boys now!" - Monkeybread Impressions, for The Night Farm.
"Very unsettling and suspenseful little story, like Lily it's easy to get so lost in watching the clock and the cupcake that you don't notice the threat until it's too late. I love how you give just enough detail to build up tension without going overboard, that's such a tricky balance to achieve. Fantastic piece, really enjoyed reading it." - Angela M. McCann, for 12:07am
"This story is an incredibly unique twist on forced isolation horror that will pull at your heartstrings. I loved Judah and Noland’s complicated relationship and how it thematically intertwined with the looming threat of the acidic rain. It’s as much a romantic story about the painful experience of healing as it is about environmental catastrophe." - Luke W. Henderson (Comic Book Yeti), for When The Rain Begins to Burn
"You can't go wrong with anything Alycia has written!" - C.R. Langille (Timber Ghost Press)
"This is a fantastic read for those seeking a haunting and introspective horror story that explores the complexities of personal relationships and the terrors of the unknown. Come for the dread and stay to see what happens to the cutest couple in horror history." - Chandra Claypool (Cemetery Dance), for When The Rain Begins To Burn
"With a fluid style and lilting prose, He Hears Death was not at all what I expected. Davidson's flare for the romantic was on full display in this tale of longing and loss. This book was unafraid to venture outside the box in both its presentation and world-building, while staying strongly rooted in the life of its main character." - Cat Voleur (author of Revenge Arc), for He Hears Death
"BEAST Protocol is science fiction perfect for Disney lovers and folks who are new to the sci fi genre. Spooky, with the kind of tension from ALIEN, and a sweet, special cast that is delightfully, refreshing familiar. This quick read will pull you in and have you biting your nails, hoping that the crew will make it out alive." - Mary VanAlstine (author of Deny Me, The Nightshade Boy) for BEAST Protocol
“A beautifully written tale told in a unique and exquisite way. A perfect depiction of grief and love wrapped together with characters you'll cry for. You'll devour this with loving ease and want to start over again once you've reached the end.” - Lauren Carter (Author of Your Darling Death), for He Hears Death

"All in all...I love weird books. It turns out I really love weird books set in space. And zombies? It was visceral, dank, claustrophobic, weird, and...beautiful? This novel was such a unique read that kept me enthralled the whole way through." - Amanda (from GoodReads), for The Scientist, The Spaceman, and The Stars Between Them

"Tens across the board. This novella is somehow horrific and cozy at the same time. If you’re someone who loves slice-of-life stories this is definitely for you. It does have its heavier moments (including some gore, so do be aware of that while going into it). I’ve never read an eco-horror romance but now this might be my favorite sub genre. I can’t remember where I found this but doesn’t matter, I will now be reading everything this author has written." - Kiana (from GoodReads), for When The Rain Begins To Burn
"I spent the morning in bed and devoured this book! I’ve never gone through such an array of emotions in under 140 pages. We get such a meaningful glimpse into a period of healing in Noland and Judah’s relationship, set against the beginnings of an apocalyptic shift in their outer world. It was both horrifying and lovely, I def recommend." - Stef Nuñez, for When The Rain Begins To Burn
