R-PNZL - A Futuristic Fairytale
It was supposed to be an easy job.
Get in. Get the tech. Get out.
It's never that easy, is it?
Once upon a time, on the dusty surface of Mars, a cocky thief finds himself standing before an ominous tower. The obelisk, black and looming like an ill omen against the harsh red landscape, houses his target.
His name is Bandit, climbing is his speciality, and the treasure at the top of the tower is his ticket to freedom. Ratchet, his partner, promises that the tech inside will reward them greatly. Looking at the monstrous structure, however, causes Bandit to pause for the briefest of moments.
Not knowing what to expect once he breaches tower, Bandit makes his way through the sandy terrain to begin his ascent...

R-PNZL is the first in A.L. Davidson's series of futuristic fairytales. This physical zine consists of thirty six pages of tense, heart-pounding moments, sci-fi action, and subverted expectations. The cover art was done by Jackarais, creator of the webcomic Bicycle Boy, with interior art by Maggie Davidson and editorial work by Mira Cox.
"A fantastic, gripping adventure with the big hug you need at the end! Think the heart of Big Hero 6 with more space!”- Lauren Smith, Your Friendly NBHD Comic Show
"Davidson’s spin on the classic tale is an exquisite sci-fi stew of romance, suspense and mystery, with just a pinch of the familiar to make you realize the story of Rapunzel should always have been a heist in the first place." - Matt Ligeti,The Comic Book Yeti
